Pittsburgh finally claims $2M Powerball prize in Maryland

Pittsburgher finally claims

The winter storm delayed the Pittsburgh man’s claim of $2M Powerball second tier prize. The second tier winning ticket with the Power Play option was sold at AC&T No.130 in Hagerstown for the historic 20th Jan drawing. Winter storm stopped the winner from claiming the prize as he could not travel to Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. The winner claims it to be the “third time charm” when he collects his prize.

He claimed the prize from the drawing that produced a $731.1 million jackpot winning ticket sold by Coney Market in Lonaconing. The huge Powerball jackpot has yet not been claimed and it is the 4th largest prize in Powerball history and the 6th largest prize in US lottery history. Maryland flags this prize to be the biggest one ever.

The night when the winner purchased the ticket it was $15 for which he was rewarded a $2M prize. He matched all the 5 main numbers and only the main Powerball number was left to match. “We were just three digits away from the jackpot. Yes, I have thought about it. What are the odds?, the winner said it to the lottery officials. Also, I could figure out some way to live with $731 million if won but I am happy with a $2M win.”

The winner discovered his win after his girlfriend noted that both the Powerball jackpot win and the $2M prize occurred in areas he might have passed through on business, said the transportation worker. The winner scanned the ticket at a Maryland lottery retailer’s counter ticket scanner which flashed back “Congratulations!”

The winner stated that the clerk must have noticed my unusual behavior and got intrigued if I was okay. “That’s when I told her that I was trying to make sure I was seeing what I was seeing.”

Winter weather has definitely been beneficial for the winner as the third planned visit to collect the prize was successful. It ended the excitement and the sleepless nights also. The winner said that he needed a nap and would pay off a few bills.

The winner stated to the lottery officials that “he plans to save most of the money. He and his girlfriend are building a future together and the windfall is just the thing to make their dreams come true.”
